KAREELA  — A local woman has reportedly experienced a minor rush of rebellion and secret self-satisfaction after placing a number 2 beside the Legalise Cannabis Australia party on her Senate ballot - her boldest act of civil disobedience since sneaking Bacardi Breezers into the Year 12 formal.

The woman, 42, who asked to remain anonymous but is known at Pilates as “Mel from Kareela,” admitted to the rogue preference while waiting for her democracy sausage at Lilli Pilli Public.

“I don’t even smoke,” she whispered. “Last time I had a puff was after graduation in ’99. We all got paranoid and watched Rage for six hours. But I just… I don’t know. It felt cheeky. Like voting with a nose ring.”

Sources close to the incident say she glanced around nervously before filling in the box, then smirked slightly — a smirk that said, “I do the school run and recycle, but I also contain multitudes.”

“I know they won’t win,” she added, “but it’s the principle. And also, the Greens were giving off needy ex energy.”

Experts say preference votes for Legalise Cannabis are on the rise among middle-aged Australians experiencing low-grade political burnout and vivid memories of The Big Day Out.

The woman later returned home, lit a vanilla and cinnamon candle, and Googled: “Does hemp shampoo count as activism?”

Authorities have confirmed she poses no threat to national stability.
