It official - Netflix is filming a new thriller right here in the Sutherland Shire, and the locals are absolutely beside themselves.

Production of Apex, a high-stakes survival thriller starring Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana, kicked off this week around The Needles in Woronora. The film has already injected over 460 local jobs into the economy, though most of those seem to involve keeping jet skis from accidentally drifting into shot.

Meanwhile, Bangor and Wonnie locals have wasted no time embracing their A-list visitors. Reports emerged last night that Charlize Theron casually popped into the Woronora RSL, only to walk out with a meat tray under her arm after dominating the Friday night raffle.

“Never seen someone pick their ticket with such confidence,” said one stunned patron.

Not to be outdone, Taron Egerton allegedly made an appearance at Bangor Tavern's trivia night, where he mistakenly believed his Rocketman knowledge would give him an edge. Witnesses say he was swiftly humbled when the night took a surprise turn into obscure facts about Paul Gallen’s boxing career.

Eric Bana, no stranger to filming in Australia, has reportedly been enjoying the downtime, with rumours circulating that he joined a group of blokes in a tinnie for a ‘quick fish’ before getting called back to set.

While producers remain tight-lipped on Apex’s plot, early speculation suggests it will involve tense survival scenarios, morally complex decisions, and at least one scene where someone yells “Get in the boat!”

With Hollywood temporarily setting up shop in the Shire, one thing is certain: locals will be talking about this for decades, or at least until the next time a Home & Away star visits Westfield Miranda.
